I am a multi-disciplinary marketer. And that usually means that one can do many things but is good at none of them. I believe that isn’t true about my work, however.

I have spent long periods of time going deep into a subject field, learning and exploring, applying what I learn and then letting that interest lead me organically onto the next subject field.

In so doing, I have developed skills in graphic design, web design and development, email marketing, business system and process building, and strategic marketing communication.

I am – and have been, since my first days of teaching myself how to use WordPress (in 2008) – a huge fan of tech systems and software. It runs our lives and makes everyday tasks easier.

In my first 1.5 years of business, I would find out about new systems, read about the features and functions, read articles about them, pay for them for a few months, test them out, implement them in my business, learn as much as I could about how they worked, and then I would cancel my subscription and try something else.

I have done this for everything from project management systems, email marketing systems, payment processing software, invoicing software to distraction-free writing software (I used to blog, a LOT).

So much time has been invested in research and testing that I decided I would make Trello boards dedicated to all this information. I have been doing this research and saving my findings for the last 5 years. It has become my software Little Black Book.
