Are you integrating your marketing apps to work more efficiently and make your campaigns more effective?

When you connect your web-based tools, your information seamlessly moves between them creating an automated workflow that saves you tons of time and allows you to work smarter.

Integrations are great for productivity, but there’s a big challenge: with thousands of available web apps for you to choose from, it’s not possible to create no-code integrations for every single one.

This is where Zapier comes in. Zapier enables you to connect MailerLite to all of your favorite web apps. Now you can sync subscriber data from other apps or send MailerLite info to the app of your choice.

While Zapier is already one of the most popular integrations from our list, we’ve made it even better by offering a new set of triggers that activate automation workflows based on your subscribers’ actions.

Whether you are new to Zapier or you have some experience, these integration triggers are worth testing out. Your email marketing will reach higher levels of efficiency. Not to mention, it’ll take manual tasks off your plate.

No, Zapier is not the name of one of the Three Musketeers. It’s an integration tool that allows you to sync data to 2,000+ business and productivity apps. It’s one of the most popular ways to automate tasks between your apps and create a completely custom integration designed for you.

With just a few clicks, you can build Zaps (Zapier’s word for integration) that streamline tasks such as adding contacts from your Wufoo forms, Eventbrite attendees or Google Contacts to your MailerLite lists.

Getting started with Zapier

First, you’ll need to create a Zapier account and select the apps you want to connect to MailerLite.  You’ll get a pop-up prompting you to sign in to your MailerLite account. This lets Zapier link your MailerLite account to the other apps you choose.

You will also need to enter your API key, which can be found when you log in to your MailerLite account on the Integrations section.

Choose Developer API from the Integrations list and you will find your API key there.

Once you've entered your API Key and clicked continue, we'll test your account to make sure the connection works.

Now you’ll see your MailerLite account connected to Zapier. This allows you to easily send subscriber information from your apps to your MailerLite lists.

What’s a Zapier trigger? We’re glad you asked.

A trigger is a rule in Zapier that automatically activates your Zap only when the trigger occurs. In our case, these triggers are connected to your subscribers.

Your subscribers can come from many different places. Lead capture forms, event registrations, past purchases, etc. You might have to check different apps to make sure your mailing list is complete and up to date. With so many different entry points to your list, you can never be sure that your list is up-to-date.

Unless you use triggers. These new Zapier triggers are designed so you no longer have to do the weekly export/import dance.

9 new Zapier triggers
  1. Subscriber added through form triggers when a subscription occurs on a specific form. Choose your form (including, embed or pop-up forms) and keep the subscribers’ data in the apps of your choice. This trigger can also be used for subscription and contact forms created on your landing pages and websites.

  2. Subscriber field updated triggers when a subscriber field is updated with new information. For example, when a subscriber’s birthday is added.

  3. Subscriber removed from group triggers when a subscriber is removed from one of your groups.

  4. Subscriber has unsubscribed triggers when a subscriber unsubscribes.

  5. Email bounced triggers when an email bounces for a specific subscriber.

  6. Spam complaint triggers when a subscriber submits a spam complaint about an email.

  7. Subscriber started automation triggers when a subscriber starts a workflow.

  8. Subscriber completed automation triggers when a subscriber completes a workflow.

  9. Campaign sent triggers when a new campaign is sent to a subscriber.

In addition to our 9 new triggers, we also created a special action to Remove subscriber from group. This action occurs after a trigger is activated.

For example, when a subscriber unsubscribes from a specific group but remains in others, the Remove subscriber from group will automatically remove that subscriber from that group. The subscriber stays active in the other groups.

1. Update your external database

Having the most accurate subscriber information across all your tools is critical. Use unsubscribe, email bounce or spam complaint triggers to change the status in your external database (outside MailerLite). Or, keep your subscriber details up to date using the Subscriber field updated trigger.

2. Create an internal newsletter archive

While Campaign sent trigger allows you to get notifications when a campaign is sent, you can also use it to create a newsletter archive. You will automatically get a preview link of the campaign, which allows you to create a newsletter archive for record-keeping. If you haven’t explored the no-code tool, Airtable, it’s worth checking out. It’s a customizable spreadsheet/database tool that makes it easy to add newsletter links.

3. Connect MailerLite lead-gen forms with your CRM

Your website, pop-ups and landing pages are great for lead generation. If you want those leads to be part of your email marketing campaigns and your inbound sales strategy, you can use the Subscriber added through form trigger to send the new lead’s information to your CRM. Both your sales and marketing teams will have the same subscriber details in their respective tools within seconds of signing up.

4. Expand your audience beyond email with Facebook

You may want to exclude certain subscribers from seeing your Facebook ads, or you may want to reach people similar to your current customers by using lookalikes. Keep your Facebook Custom Audiences up-to-date by adding new subscribers, or certain groups, to your chosen custom audience on Facebook. Three triggers, Subscriber field updatedSubscriber removed from group and Subscriber added to group, can all be implemented to keep your Facebook custom audience up-to-date.

5. Connect your e-commerce to email automation

Your customer relationship does not end with a purchase. In fact, that’s just the beginning of building customer loyalty. Why not send them an automated email series after a purchase? If they still don't buy after the automation, you can use the Subscriber completes automation trigger to send a final coupon.

In addition to these new triggers, there were already a few Zapier triggers and actions available in MailerLite.

  • New subscriber: Triggers when a new subscriber is created

  • Subscriber added to group: Triggers when a subscriber is added to a group

Here is an example of how you can use these triggers with a Facebook leads ad campaign integration.

There are also 2 more Zapier actions available:

  • Create/Update subscriber: Automatically creates a new subscriber or updates the existing by email address

  • Unsubscribe subscriber: Automatically sets the contact’s status to “unsubscribe”

You can visit our Zapier page for more integration details.

Integrate your favorite web apps now

The beauty of Zapier is that you can connect the apps that you love and use. You no longer have to wait on your tools to integrate or compromise tools. You can keep your favorite apps and integrate them on your own.
