MailerLite

R&D Engineer

Job description

MailerLite is one of the fastest-growing email marketing services. We help more than 1 million businesses around the world stay in touch with their customers. Today, we are a team of more than 170 dreamers, adventurers, and world travelers passionate about what we do and what we believe in. And we are ready for another talented person to join the party.

We are looking for a hands-on and curious R&D Engineer to help us accelerate the innovation at MailerLite. You will work directly with the CTO on early-stage ideas, involving rapid prototyping of new features and exploring cutting-edge tech—from MCPs to AI-powered workflows. This is not a slow-moving role—it is a high velocity position where speed, creativity and curiosity are key. Join us now! 🚀

Why MailerLite?

Wondering why we think you’ll love working for MailerLite?

Work directly with the CTO on high-impact and high-visibility projects

Freedom to experiment with the latest technologies and ideas

Be the driver of innovation—your prototypes could become core product features

You will improve internal processes with the use of LibreChat and Agents for all other internal teams

What you will work on

  • Rapid prototypes: Build, ship, learn, test, and iterate fast

  • AI & Automation: Explore and integrate AI tools (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini)

  • MCP & API development: Maintain and develop our MCPs and extend MailerLite’s capabilities

  • Tech research: Stay ahead of industry trends, experiment with new tools and bring forward innovative solutions

  • Direct impact: You will work closely with the CTO on R&D priorities and shape the next-gen of the MailerLite platform

What we expect from you

  • Strong development background: Proficient in at least one major programming language.  We use PHP & Laravel, but for this position we expect someone stronger at Typescript, Python or Go. Language is not important as long as you have a proven history of adapting to new technologies and languages, and are not afraid to learn new ones as they come by

  • Experience with AI/LLMs: We know that these tools haven’t been on the market for long, but we are looking for someone with practical experience using APIs like OpenAI/Anthropic/Gemini

  • API & System knowledge: REST APIs, webhooks, distributed systems design

  • Fast iteration mindset: Ability to go from idea to prototype to validation quickly

  • Curiosity and autonomy: You have a love of experimenting, are self-driven, and thrive in a "figure it out" environment

  • Familiarity with MCPs: We truly believe that MCPs are the future of AI interaction, and we have our own - MailerLite and MailerSend MCPs

  • Based in EMEA - 6h overlap with CET

What we offer

  • Remote-first culture with the team working remotely from all over the world

  • International health insurance provided with coverage in most countries. Monthly healthcare payout available in select countries where coverage is limited

  • Company-paid retreats. Once per year we gather for a week in an exotic location to work, learn and have fun together
