Free plan update: What you need to know

Starting September 23rd, 2025, the subscriber limit on MailerLite's Free plan will be reduced from 1000 total subscribers to 500.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to my free account after September 23, 2025?

Nothing changes if you have fewer than 500 subscribers; you can continue using your account as usual.

If you have over 500 subscribers, sending campaigns, running automations and adding subscribers manually to MailerLite will stop working. You need to upgrade to a paid plan or reduce your subscriber count to below 500 to continue sending.

If you decide to stay in the free plan with 500 subscribers, your account will remain active, and you will not lose any data. All your forms, pop-ups, and landing pages will continue to work.

Will I be charged automatically if my subscriber count exceeds the free plan limit?

You’ll see an in-app banner when your account reaches 400 subscribers. This will allow you to upgrade before hitting the 500-subscriber limit.

Will I be notified before I reach the subscriber limit?

Each unique, active email address is counted as a subscriber towards your plan’s subscriber limit. We don’t count subscribers more than once, even if they appear in multiple groups or segments. We also don’t count unsubscribed or bounced contacts toward your limit.

How is the subscriber limit calculated?

Each unique, active email address is counted as a subscriber towards your plan’s subscriber limit. We don’t count subscribers more than once, even if they appear in multiple groups or segments. We also don’t count unsubscribed or bounced contacts toward your limit.

Are you also changing the email send limit?

The email send limit will not change. You can still send up to 12,000 emails per month on a free plan.

Will my active automations and scheduled emails be affected if I don't upgrade?

If you have over 500 subscribers and don’t upgrade, your active automations will stop working, and your scheduled emails will not be sent. If you have over 500 subscribers, upgrade your account before September 23, 2025 to keep everything running smoothly.

Will my forms and landing pages stop collecting subscribers if I don't upgrade?

Forms, pop-ups and landing pages will continue to collect subscribers even if you surpass the free plan limits.

Will my integrations stop working if I don't upgrade?

If you have under 500 subscribers, everything will continue to work. If you have over 500 subscribers, connected e-commerce integrations will continue to sync existing customer data, but they will not add newly opted-in customers to your email list.

How can I upgrade my account?

Upgrade your account by heading to Account settings, then Plan and billing, and then hitting Upgrade. Choose either an Advanced or Growing Business plan and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

What is the difference between the Growing Business and the Advanced plans?

Our Growing Business plan contains all the tools you need to create effective email marketing campaigns with automations, unlimited campaigns, landing pages and more.

Our Advanced plan includes pro features such as AI generation, an HTML email editor, and enhanced automations.

Check out our pricing page to see all the differences between the two plans.

Do you offer any discounts?

We’re currently running a Get back to business sale, which gives new customers and those on a free plan 30% off their first 3 months of any paid plan.

If you miss the sale, you can save 10% year-round by purchasing an annual plan over a monthly one.

Plus, nonprofits can save 30% off any plan at any time of year. If your organization is a nonprofit, check out our nonprofit discount page to learn more.

I'm in the process of moving to the new MailerLite, what happens if I need to migrate over 500 subscribers?

Users migrating from MailerLite Classic will face the same free plan limits. You’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan if you have more than 500 subscribers.

Alternatively, start by migrating under 500 subscribers to test out the new platform. You can then move over the remainder once you’ve finished testing.

How do I clean my subscriber list to get back under the 500-subscriber limit?

You may be able to stay below the 500 subscriber limit by removing inactive subscribers, those who no longer open your campaigns, from your email list.

Head to the Clean up inactive tab in the Subscribers section of your dashboard to get started. See detailed instructions for how to remove inactive subscribers here.

You could also use MailerCheck to remove low-quality subscribers like role-based accounts, disposable email addresses and email addresses with typos. Head to MailerCheck to analyze 200 email addresses for free
