Creating and using custom fields (Personalization)

Don't know which version of MailerLite you're using? Click here to find out!

What are custom fields?

A field is what holds the information a subscriber enters into a signup form.

There are nine default fields that exist in MailerLite when you create an account: Name, Last name, Email, Phone, Company, Country, State, City, and Zip.

Custom Fields are fields that you create in addition to these default fields. You’ll need to create a custom field if you want to gather additional information about your subscribers. You can use the additional information to further manage your subscribers and personalize your campaigns.

To create a custom field, go to Subscribers and click Fields. Here you can see all of the available default fields.

To create your own, click Add new field. Give your field a name and choose the type of field.

  • Text: Names, cities or items

  • Number: Phone numbers or any other number data

  • Date: Birthday dates or any kind of anniversaries

Then click Create to save your new custom field. You can use these field in autoresponders and when collecting new subscribers.

Quick note: There is a difference between default fields and the ones you create yourself. You can rename or delete the fields you create. However, you can’t delete the default fields.

You can use these custom fields in a newsletter as a way to personalise your newsletter with your subscriber's custom data.

You can also add this field in any sign-up form so your subscribers complete this information upon sign up.
